Her older brothers tormented her with a scarecrow when she was little and growing up on her family’s farm.
5 Heroic Destiny

Born into an unassuming family in a small farming village, Alarah was the middle child of 3 children. Her lack of talent in anything resembling farmhand work frustrated her father and from an early age he preferred to leave her to her own devices so as to not be in the way. She spent much of her youth outside of the town tavern listening to minstrels that wandered through.
As she got older, her father became increasingly frustrated with her lack of any practical skill. When she turned 12, he sent her to the tavern, saying, “if you want to be reduced to singing for your supper, you’ll have plenty of opportunity there.” The innkeeper owed a favor and Alarah began serving tables and washing dishes the next night.
She travelled from village to village, tending the patrons of the taverns by day and practicing her music by night. She had encountered many minstrels by this time and strove to remember all the songs they regaled the small taverns with. Just before meeting with 3 strangers heading to the Stolen Lands, she was visited in her dreams by a great copper wyrm. It told her that her fate lay in the wilds and that her destiny was to become a leader of men. When a man came by the tavern the next night complaining about a writ from Brevoy, she took it from him, not knowing what exactly she had signed up for. She then met with her new comrades, eager to see new lands and start a new life.
