Bio:

Sleestak, as he has come to call himself, has emerged from a trying childhood. His mother, an elven Druid of some renown before the burning of the sylvan outpost she called home, was taken as slave and concubine to the bandit chief who ordered her husband’s execution. In the years that followed, she gave birth to Sleestak. The bandit lord dubbed his bastard child “scrawny,” but his mother called him by an elven name and sung songs in elvish to him when they found moments alone. She also found ways to secretly teach him the way of nature and the art of bow making.
Eventually, his mother escaped the bandits clutches with her small child. For months the two eluded their patrols, only to end up cornered. After watching his father murder his mother in cold blood, he took up the shortbow she’d taken, took aim, and as his father laughed at him, placed an arrow through his throat.
The bandits had a second in command, who ordered the boy burned alive with his parents’ corpses. He was barely alive when a lizardfolk hunter rescued him and nurtured him to health. Having witnessed the gruesome treachery of the humans, she decided it best to bring the boy back to her colony.
Here he hid for ten years, learning the way of the silent hunter. He became unusually adept at climbing and swimming, and in time, through a series of harsh tests, both invented and natural, even gained marginal acceptance among the tribe. The lizard folk held honestly and honor in high regard, and passed along these values as well.
When he’d grown into a young man, his savior, now a high ranking matron, told him the circumstances of his parents’ death. She warned him of the danger he might face if recognized in the human world, and that his elven ancestors were likely all dead. So,he returned to the place he was most comfortable, where he had felt most at home: the wilderness.
He there survived alone for years, avoiding all contact with the human race. He learned to survive ad eventually thrive in the wild. In time, he learned to master the language of the wild, and met who would become a lifelong companion, the mountain lion Khumbu.
For several more years the two hunters roamed the wilds together. Sleestak gained the time and peace he needed to ponder his place in life.
He remembers only bits of his time with his mother. One thing rings in his memory, something she said often to him while the two lay quietly in their cell. "Love is more important than power. It is the greatest gift of this world. Do not let this harsh world take that from you. "
One night, as the two companions sit atop a hillside looking down on the town of Restov, into the windows of the homes and inns with hearths burning, Sleestak looks to his companion and asks, " well, old friend, shall we explore a new terrain?"
